Virginia Watkins |

Before working with Virginia I had written casually and taken a few creative writing classes in college, but I had never considered sitting down and committing to writing an entire book. Now, six months later, after working weekly with Virginia, I have a full manuscript of my memoir.

When I leave our meetings I feel both encouraged and excited to write. I encourage anyone considering to work with her to sign up immediately. Your writing and life will thank you.

Hannah W - Stockbridge, MA

This workshop has been the absolute highlight of my winter. I look forward to it all week long.

Cait W. - Sheffield, MA

Virginia's workshop is exactly what I have been missing as a writer--and I didn't even know I was missing anything!

My writing and confidence have grown so much.

Virginia Watkins helped steer my memoir into deep waters, mostly by sitting in the boat with me, encouraging me on ("Where did you feel that in your body?"), but always letting me plot the course. She honored my voice by asking for more of it in the very places I would rather have gone silent.

About Virginia

I write novels, essays, screenplays and plays. I’ve written a YA novel that travels through time and a play in which a mirror comes to life. i’m currently working on a tv show set in a boarding school and collaborating with a musician on his memoir.

I work with other writers because I truly love it. I coordinate workshops, read and critique completed manuscripts, and work one-on-one, coaching writers through their projects and students on their essays for college and grad school applications. You can get more information about how that works below.

i recently moved to baltimore, maryland, where i’ve found a great bookstore, fabulous libraries, and am working to find a community of writers in real-time. talking to other people who love books, love reading, and love writing makes me absurdly happy .

If you’d like to contact me about a project, workshop, coaching, or just to talk about books, please email me here.

I also just started serializing a novel, A Killer View, on Substack you can access it here.
